Belkin House has 2 floors dedicated to hosting a variety of residential programs and 5 floors dedicated to housing up to 224 men, women and children.
We are a 24/7 operation and provide a clean, safe, secure and comfortable accommodation for our residents.
The day by day operation is carried out by more than 114 full-time, part-time and casual employees as well as a host of volunteers.
We have staying power!
The Salvation Army Belkin House is a ministry of the Salvation Army’s Social Services.
We originally opened our doors over 50 years ago, at 500 Dunsmuir Street, as The Dunsmuir House for men.
In September 2004 we opened as a new multi-program facility – at a new location, and with a new name – The Salvation Army Belkin House.
Our new home…
Our new downtown location (555 Homer St.) is state-of-the-art facility.
It was designed specifically to accommodate housing, training programs, in-class instruction, social & recreational activities, common areas for clients, and other services such as chaplaincy and counseling.
Belkin House was constructed through the generous financial assistance of:
The Morris & Helen Belkin Foundation
Government of Canada (HRSDC, CMHC)
Province of British Columbia (BC Housing)
The City of Vancouver
And generous donations from many community minded businesses, organizations and individuals
Belkin House operates in part with funding assistance from:
The National Salvation Army Red Shield Fund
And through private donations
